Jerusalem is a city of three religions

For two millennia, Jerusalem was the main religious Mecca.

According to the sacred writings of Christians, Jews and Muslims, important religious events took place in this city and its surroundings. Therefore, the right to visit and celebrate the services in the holy places of Jerusalem is shared by representatives of different denominations.Modern Jerusalem is built around the main places of interest – the Old Town, which is situated within the fortress walls. The area of the Old Town is small – only 1 km2. Its narrow stone-paved streets divide the map into Armenian, Jewish, Muslim neighbourhoods. There are such popular places and architectural monuments as the Wailing Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock. Many pilgrims from all over the world consider this pilgrimage to be their duty.\r\Jerusalem will also be interesting for ordinary tourists. In the intertwining of streets and houses of the Old Town there are many colourful shops where they sell spices, dishes, clothes and products from local masters. Here you can have a snack in a traditional diner.Public transport runs around the city including many buses, fixed-route taxis and a new underground metro. For self-guided tours it is better to buy a city guide.
